    Book details

Rohan, a young mangaka (Japanese manga artist), meets a beautiful mysterious young woman with a dramatic story. Seeing him draw, she tells him of a cursed 200-year-old painting that used the blackest ink ever known, from a 1000-year-old tree that the painter had brought down. The painting was saved by the curator of the Louvre - Rohan forgets this story until, 10 years later, he tries to locate it on a visit to Paris. Little does he know how violent the curse really is. Fans of manga will appreciate the innovative storyline and the energetic, psychedelic visuals within.

Library Journal on the previous books in the series""A great story of a hearing-impaired young man trying to find his way." Miami Herald on the previous books in the series""It's a straightforward, beautifully drawn, and delicately colored tale, filled with emotional bursts, sudden death, and the scent of eternity. It's also a great deal of fun." Foreword (June 2012)""Wondrous insanity." www.TCJ.com (The Comics Journal)""A must read! With its attention to the artistic process and the almost INDIANA JONESesque mystery of an ancient relic, mixed with a little bit of Japanese fairy tale whimsy, Rohan at the Louvreis a truly unique reading experience." www.AintItCool.com""The previous . . . title in the Louvre's distinguished graphic novel series, The Sky Over the Louvre, set an even higher standard than the first three high quality titles, and Araki's gorgeous ghost story easily matches them all for plot, drawing chops and emotional gut-punch. This excellent volume is recommended for fans of extreme manga artishness and for horror otaku." Library Journal (May 2012)""Araki's book will be relished by readers who are fans of the manga format, especially those interested in art." VOYA magazine""Published in a large hardcover format this unique title should find an audience. Should be popular with manga fans." School Library Journal (July 2012)"

Colourful and interesting side story to the main series Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. As I enjoyed it, I also bought a second copy for a friend.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is up there with my favourite manga series. Rohan At The Louvre has little to no relation to the story of JoJo, however it is set in the JoJo universe. This is a really short and great story which focuses on the character Rohan Kishibe fromJJBA: Diamond Is Unbreakable. The story shows Rohan in his younger days living in an inn where he meets a mysterious girl who he secretly uses for character reference in his art. Rohan then finds out about the most Evil Painting, which is located at the Louvre in Paris. Years later, Rohan decides to locate the most Evil Painting.JoJo fans will definitely love this short story.

Of course, you need to be Hirohiko Araki/Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fan to like this product. I am, and for me it was exactly what I had hoped for and a bit more. It was full color and displayed all the qualities I love in Araki's work - insane storyline and personal artwork. If you do not enjoy his other works, do not purchase this. But if you do like his works this is a nice addition to your JJBA collection.
